Dunfermline conveyancing, handled for you

Dunfermline became a city in 2022 and is now the largest settlement in Fife. Its links across the Forth to Edinburgh, by road over the Queensferry Crossing and by train, have made it one of the fastest-growing places in Scotland, and much of that growth is new housing on the northern and eastern edges of the city. Our conveyancing solicitors handle Dunfermline purchases, sales, remortgages and transfers of title on a fixed fee.

Local knowledge, fixed-fee pricing

Buying or selling a property in Dunfermline is a big decision, and you need a solicitor who explains the legal process in plain English. Our law firm combines local knowledge of the area with long expertise in Scottish property law. Every client gets a named conveyancing solicitor, friendly and responsive updates, and a clear fixed fee before any work starts, so you have peace of mind throughout the transaction. Our property lawyers give clear legal advice on residential conveyancing across Scotland, and every solicitor in our team is regulated by the Law Society of Scotland.

We handle the whole conveyancing process for buyers and sellers, and work closely with your estate agents, your lender and the other side's solicitors. New homes in north Dunfermline

Much of Dunfermline's new housing is being built to the north of the city. The Whitefields masterplan alone is planned to deliver around 1,400 homes, and in March 2026 Fife Council approved a further 219 homes at Whitefield Gate. If you are buying from a developer, we review the builder's missives, the reservation agreement and the warranty, and check the factoring of shared open spaces and any road or drainage areas that have not yet been adopted by the council.

What to check when buying in Dunfermline

  • Coal mining. West Fife was one of Scotland's main coalfields, and Fife Council's own planning guidance identifies coal mining areas across the region. We order a mining report from the Mining Remediation Authority, formerly the Coal Authority, and explain anything it shows.
  • Older stone properties. Around the historic centre, many homes are older stone buildings, some listed or in a conservation area. We check that past alterations had the consents they needed.
  • Former council homes. Many houses were bought under the right to buy, which ended in Scotland on 31 July 2016. We explain any conditions from the original council sale.
  • Flats. We check how common repairs are shared in the title deeds and whether there is a factor.
