Billy Smith

Director and Solicitor

Billy set up the firm in September 2010, after several years as an employed solicitor, because he believed legal services could be delivered much better. He sees every case as a puzzle that needs patience, strategy and organisation to solve, and he is proudest of building a firm where staff are encouraged to be their best.

Emma King

Director and Solicitor

Emma trained alongside Billy and joined him in 2011, and in 2017 their two firms merged to form Clarity Simplicity Ltd. She has worked across civil work and litigation with a particular focus on family law, and she combines her own casework with making sure the firm's service stays excellent.

Scott Stevenson

Associate Director

Scott uses his problem-solving skills to help clients reach their goals, and colleagues describe him as calm, composed and logical under pressure. Before law he became a professional footballer at the age of 17, and he still plays football and golf in his spare time.

Ciara Young

Associate Director

Ciara joined the firm as a legal assistant in January 2019, trained with us and is now an Associate Director. She studied at the University of Glasgow, including a semester studying law at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, and she enjoys meeting clients with a wide variety of legal issues.

Abby Duncan

Trainee Solicitor

Abby joined in January 2024 while completing her law degree at Glasgow Caledonian University, where she graduated with a 2:1 before moving on to the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. She enjoys the challenge of covering many different areas of law.

Sophie Newberry

Trainee Solicitor

Sophie joined in January 2024 and graduated from the University of Glasgow with a 2:1, the first in her family to go to university. She likes that no two days are the same, and colleagues describe her as diligent and efficient.

Breanna Black

Trainee Solicitor

Breanna joined in January 2025 and is proud to have completed her university studies and become a trainee. She values the constant learning in her role, and her communication skills help her build strong relationships with clients.

Keir McGill

Office Coordinator

Keir has been our Office Coordinator since March 2023, making sure the whole team knows who is handling each task so clients get the best experience. Colleagues describe him as hardworking, honest and a real team player.

Denise Barrett

Clan Support

Denise has been a legal secretary for 30 years, including ten years with a large London firm, and has worked across conveyancing, trusts, wills, family law and more. She lives in Coatbridge and enjoys reading and walking.

Nicole Arthur

Clan Support

Nicole, known as Nikki, joined in November 2017 after many years as a retail manager. She supports all of our solicitors and is often the first friendly face clients meet when they visit the office.

Sophie Hanlon

Client Services Assistant

Sophie joined in February 2025 and enjoys being part of a collaborative team with constant opportunities to learn. She holds an MSc in International Relations, Law and Security.

Brooke Welsh

Client Services Assistant

Brooke handles enquiries and bookings in our Client Services team, supporting clients in our Dispute Resolution and Housing departments. She says every day in the office is like a school day, with something new to learn.

Mary McAlister

Sales Executive

Mary makes sure new enquiries are handled quickly and professionally. She previously worked in logistics and marketing, and she loves walking her dog Knuckles and trying Glasgow's food spots.

Imogen Black

Alison Herd

Digital Marketing Executive

Alison looks after the firm's digital marketing, including search engine optimisation and design, and completed her degree in Graphic Design as a mature student. She is also part of the team that runs the firm's charity events.
